SACRAMENTO, Calif. Washington State has moved into the second round of the N-C-A-A men's basketball tournament. The 13th-ranked Cougars beat Oral Roberts 70-to-54 in an East Regional game in Sacramento, California.
Reserve Ivory Clark scored 19 points and blocked five shots, while Kyle Weaver contributed ten points, eight rebounds and four assists as the third-seeded Cougars won their first N-C-A-A game in 24 years.
Washington State went from last place in the Pac-Ten a year ago to second under first-year coach Tony Bennett. They are 26-and-7 on the season.
Oral Roberts, the Mid-Continent Conference tournament champions who reached the N-C-A-As for the second straight season and fourth time overall, finishes 23-and-11.
