Charles Rhodes wants a job in the NBA..
He can't think of a better place to go to work than right here in Memphis.
The Grizzlies open their Pre-Draft Camp at FedExForum with 3-players ready and willing to sweat it out for the teams' late first round draft pick at number 28.
Former Mississippi State Star Charles Rhodes, a 6-8 Forward, who improved in his 4-years with the Bulldogs to earn ALL-SEC Honors as a Senior, did his best to outshine USC Freshman Davon Jefferson, and Israeli star Omri Casspi of Maccabi Tel Aviv
Grizzlies Player Personnel Director Tony Barone, Sr. says:
"We've watched Rhodes on numerous occasions with his College Team in the S.E.C. We like his game, even though he's a bit undersized for a low post player. He's got a great little step back move that allows him to get his shot off over anyone."
Says Rhodes:
"i had a pretty good workout. i'll do whatever the coaches tell me.. I'd love to come here and play for the Grizzlies..i'm from just down the road. This has been my team ever since i was in High School. I'll do whatever i can..bring whatever i can to the table to make it."
The Grizzlies will have 7-more workouts in Memphis over the Next 2-weeks.
Former UCLA Center Kevin Love is scheduled in on Monday.
In other Grizzlies news..
Grizzlies General Manager Chris Wallace also attended Thursday's workouts..
He's been in the news lately after Team Owner Michael Heisley cast doubt on if the Grizzlies got good value in the Pau Gasol Trade to the Lakers.
In a Yahoo Sports.com interview Wednesday, Heisley said Wallace should've shopped Gasol more before making what the rest of the League says is a bad deal.
Wallace says he was following orders.
"Mr. Heisley is the owner of the team. Of Course, he can say whatever he wants."
I would make the trade again. It gave us assets we need. i would do it again if i had to make that deal."
The Grizzlies have 2 picks in the First Round, at 5th and 28th.
The NBA Draft is June 26th.
